At the junction of France, Italy and Switzerland, the glaciated
massif of Mont Blanc is circled by one of the world's great
long-distance walks - the Tour du Mont Blanc.
Based on our perfect knowledge of the area, we can propose here
a more challenging version of this trek, incorporating a number
of very exciting variants. Wherever possible, we have chosen
to take the high-level route and this includes several interesting
pass crossings, such as the Col des Fours (2665m./8,740ft.)
and the Col de la Breya (2401m/7,875ft), which appear on no
ordinary version of this circuit.
En route, we stay in comfortable mountain refuges and lodges,
many of them dramatically situated, like the Cabane d'Orny (2811m/9,220ft)
beside the glacier of the same name - and the lakeside Chalet
du Lac Blanc.
This superb new trip presents the best of the Mont Blanc region,
with a blend of breathtaking views, Alpine meadow trails, picturesque
hamlets and an abundance of wildflowers.
