The Berner Oberland is a tremendous playground
for mountaineering. You might decide to climb the famous trilogy,
Jungfrau, Eiger and Mönch. See our Eiger program for this.
But the area also offers fantastic climbing opportunities on the neighbouring peaks. The Oberland is a unique area in the Swiss Alps, the Aletsch glacier has been protected by the UNESCO as unique alpine environment. The climbs offer a good combination of alpine climbing on solid granite with snow and ice section for a complete mountaineering experience.
And as a supplementary challenge, by the end of the trip you
will eventually be able to pronounce all those challenging names
that our Swiss German friends have given to their peaks and
glaciers.
