| Tour Ronde - Arête
de Rochefort et Midi-Plan traverse |
|
| |
|
A selection that takes you on some of the most scenic climbs in the area.
This program requires previous climbing experience, mountaineering skills and a good technique on crampons. The Tour Ronde is our first objective - an easier climb to get started and review alpine skills. The second objective is the traverse of the Aiguilles de Rochefort towards the Grandes Jorasses. This is a very unique itinerary along a finely carved snow ridge that reserves fantastic views on the spectacular North Face of the Jorasses as well as the southern side of the Mont Blanc. On the last day, after a traverse to the Chamonix side we will follow the ridge between the Aiguille du Midi and the Aiguille du Plan along exposed mixed terrain before descending to the refuge du Requin and by the Vallée Blanche to the Montenvers train.
Chamonix’s climbing at its best…

| Day 1 |
Meeting in our hotel in Chamonix. Equipment check and team meeting. |
| Day 2 |
Drive to Courmayeur and by cable car to the rifugio Torino on the Italian side of the massif. |
| Day 3 |
South-East Ridge of the Tour Ronde (3792 m). This route combines rock, snow and ice climbing. The climb in the early morning sun is always a great moment of mountaineering. Return to the Torino hut. |
| Day 4 |
Early start and easy climb towards the Aiguille du Géant. From there the narrow ridge winds towards the East to the summit of the Aiguille de Rochefort (4001 m). Back to Torino and by cable car traverse to the Aiguille du Midi. Night at the Cosmiques hut. |
| Day 5 |
The Midi Plan traverse is a journey between sun and shadow. On one side the Chamonix valley still in the shade and on the other side the bright morning light on the spectacular Vallée Blanche. The itinerary follows the ridge line and combines steep section of ice with mixed terrain and a final pitch in Chamonix’s best granite to reach the summit of the Aiguille du Plan at 3673 m. The descent along the glacier du Plan is a challenging glacier travel, finding our way across a heavily crevassed ice field. The final hike out to the Montenvers train is the great conclusion to an exceptional trip. |
